The Science Slam on Doctoral Researchers' Day 2025 took place on November 12 at the GRASSI Museum. Louisa Kosel was declared the winner.

Around 130 spectators gathered in the museum's lecture hall to learn about a wide range of research being conducted at Leipzig University. Seven slammers presented their research topics in English and German in a vivid, humorous, entertaining, and exciting way.

Luisa Kosel was crowned the winner by mobile phone vote with her contribution on “Myrrhische Darmwende” – the effect of myrrh in the intestine. She received the Golden Megaphone and a year's subscription to the Leipzig city magazine kreuzer.

In addition to Louisa Kosel, six other slammers presented their research on stage at the GRASSI Museum:

  • Fathima Cherichi Purayil with “Cloud stories written by rivers in the sky” about invisible rivers in the sky
  • Victor Jüttner with “A light bulb is just a computer” about smart homes and cybercrime
  • Chirag Singal with “I will, but others' won't! Sharing Behavior among children” about sharing among children and the difference between ‘WEIRD’ and “NORMAL” in psychology
  • Julia Bartsch with “Hushed up – Can the media break the silence about death and dying?” about the taboo subject of death and its representation in the media
  • Eleanor Butler with “Fire regimes and their changes” on the transformation of wildfires
  • Diego Espejo with “Surgical ASMR: What really happens inside the patient?” on improving minimally invasive surgery through vibrations and acoustic signals

The slammers received a preparatory workshop in advance from the Graduate Academy Leipzig. Author and poetry slammer Franziska Wilhelm hosted the evening.
