From now on, you can register online as a member of the Graduate Academy Leipzig. Please check in advance whether you meet all the requirements for membership as a doctoral researcher or postdoc. Have your university login ready.

Become a Member as a doctoral researcher
To become a member of the Graduate Academy Leipzig as a doctoral researcher, you must fulfil the following requirements:
- Conclusion of a supervision agreement with your supervisor.
- Inclusion on a list of doctoral candidates at one of the faculties of Leipzig University.
Please note that you must obtain either the supervision agreement or, alternatively, a confirmation from your supervisor that you have concluded a supervision agreement. This is not the same as the confirmation of supervision of the doctoral project, which you must submit to the faculty in order to be entered on the list of doctoral researchers.
- Associate membership
Doctoral researchers from other universities who are members of joint doctoral programmes with Leipzig University can apply for associate membership. You also need to confirm that you have concluded a supervision agreement and have been accepted onto a doctoral candidate list at a faculty of your home university. - Provisional membership
Doctoral researchers who have not yet been included on a list of doctoral candidates, but who have already submitted an application to your department, can apply for provisional membership. Provisional members can take part in the skills development programme and access our advice services on issues relating to doctoral studies, career development and conflict.
Please note that as a provisional member, you do not have access to other services, particularly financial support. Your provisional membership will automatically expire after 6 months.
Become a Member as a Postdoc

FAQ
With the further development of the Research Academy Leipzig into the Graduate Academy Leipzig, the membership structure is also changing. The previous membership as part of a structured doctoral programme will be replaced by individual membership for doctoral researchers and postdocs. In concrete terms, this means that you will have to register again. This is how we ensure that our members meet all the requirements.
You can find all information and help on the university login on the website of the University Computing Centre. If you have any questions or problems, please contact the Service Desk of the University Computing Centre.
A supervision agreement is a written document in which all agreements and stipulations as well as rights and obligations of you as a doctoral researcher and your supervisors are recorded. It regulates, for example, how your time and work schedule is structured, how often you meet with your supervisor, which resources are available to you for your doctorate or how to proceed in cases of conflict.
We offer you a template for such an agreement, which is based on the DFG's recommendations for drawing up supervision agreements (available only in German).
In order to be accepted as a member of the Graduate Academy Leipzig, you as a doctoral researcher must upload your supervision agreement in the registration process or, alternatively, your supervisor's confirmation that you have concluded this agreement.
It is not sufficient to upload the confirmation of supervision of the doctoral project, which you must submit to the faculty in order to register on the list of doctoral candidates. This only serves to ensure that you have a supervisor for your doctorate. The supervision agreement, however, goes beyond this and regulates the concrete cooperation between all those involved in the doctorate.
